Balconies of Calle Mayor, Chapitela and Plaza del Castillo will exhibit images of the confinement

Pamplona this summer will have a new outdoor showroom, a tour of 50 balconies that will begin in the main Street and that through the calle Chapitela will end in Castle plaza. On the balconies you can see images of the exhibition ‘# PHEdesdemibalcón‘, driven PHotoESPAÑA with images of the confinement.

For this national call, they have been selected in the case of Pamplona works by 30 different authors. 578 images were received from Navarra and 291 of Pamplona, as explained this Tuesday at a press conference by the Councilor delegate for Culture and Equality, María García Barberena.

In total, the call received more than 63,000 photographs of which 2,450 will be exhibited in 49 different cities in an initiative of PHotoESPAÑA with which it has wanted to reach the whole country in its 23rd edition.

The exhibition is a citizen’s account of almost two months of confinement, since the photographs were taken from balconies and windows, spaces that now serve as the exhibition wall, between March 30 and May 17. It was raised as a tribute to citizenship to thank you for your effort and commitment in those days.

So, ‘# PHEdesdemibalcón‘wanted to be “a call to creativity and artistic exploration taking as a starting point windows and balconies, reference elements throughout the entire History of art and that during the weeks of confinement they took on great significance “.

According to the promoters, in the first photograph on record in history, ‘View from the window at Le Gras‘, Joseph Nicéphore Niépce used this element as an artistic motif. And since that moment “there have been many great artists who have used them to reflect on the interior and exterior space: Picasso, Dali, Magritté, Hopper …”.

Therefore, the initiative was presented as “an opportunity to deepen the way of looking thereby rediscovering the environment, the neighborhood and even each person “.

At the initiative, in addition to Pamplona City Council Albacete, Gerona, Cuenca, Madrid, Salamanca, Valladolid, Santander, A Coruña, Alcobendas, Alcalá de Henares, Segovia, Badajoz, Seville, Barcelona, Córdoba, Logroño, Oviedo, Vitoria, La Laguna, Las Palmas, León, have joined. Soria, Zaragoza, Castellón, Elche, Gijón, Granada, Jaén, Melilla, Teruel, Toledo, Vigo, Albacete, Alicante, Cáceres, Getafe, Guadalajara, Hospitalet, Zamora, Burgos, Cartagena, Coslada, Ibiza, Muxía, Santa Cruz de Tenerife , Torrevieja, Valencia and Hervás.
