BOSTON – The Wisconsin men’s track and field team kicked off its indoor season with a record-breaking performance at the BU Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener on Saturday, highlighted by a standout showing from freshman Henry Risser.
Risser promptly made his mark, winning the 600 meters in 1:17.09, a time that ranks second in Wisconsin indoor history. The Badgers also excelled in the mile,with Andrew Casey finishing third in 4:00.37 and Patrick Hilby securing sixth place in 4:01.53 – both athletes achieving personal bests. These early-season results signal a strong start for the Wisconsin squad as they aim for continued success throughout the indoor campaign.
The meet, held December 7, 2024, in Boston, Massachusetts, saw Risser lead the charge in the first heat of the 600m, quickly establishing himself as a force to watch. Casey and Hilby’s strong mile performances demonstrated the team’s depth and potential in distance events.
Wisconsin will next compete at the Wisconsin Midwest Invitational on January 10, 2026, at Gately Stadium in Chicago.
