Severe thunderstorms hit the Southwest this Friday evening. The city of Lévignac was particularly affected. The inhabitants noted the damage this Saturday morning.

Between 10 p.m. and 11 p.m. this Friday evening, the heart of the village of Lévignac in Haute-Garonne experienced a real nightmare. This Saturday morning, residents still deprived of electricity wake up in the middle of various litter strewn on the ground. Everyone strives to clear the streets and parking lots of branches, garbage cans and everything that the strong gusts of wind carried under the downpours. On the square of the Monument aux Morts, an old acacia tree has been cut in two, falling on cars parked nearby.

Philippe dazed, hanged on the phone, notes the damage: “My car is damaged, that of my neighbor is ruined, I’m waiting for the expert,” he hopes. On the other side of the street, the bowling alley is covered with branches. “I stay here for a while, to prevent people from entering the padouenc because many branches remain suspended and may fall at any time,” said the president of the bowling club.

The street closed for part of the night has been cleared by the firefighters but there is still a lot of cleaning work for municipal employees, as well as for individuals on the streets of the old town, who are busy early to clear the traces of that dreadful night.
