Maria Georgas Reveals Why She Turned Down ‘The Bachelorette’
After more than a month of speculation within Bachelor Nation, Maria Georgas, a finalist from “Bachelor” Season 28, confirmed the rumors about her decision to decline the offer to become “The Bachelorette.”
A Scholarship Assistant from Ontario
Maria Georgas, a 29-year-old executive assistant from Ontario, Canada, was introduced as one of the 32 women vying for Joey Graziadei’s heart earlier this year. In an interview with Alex Cooper on the “Call Her Daddy” podcast, Georgas opened up about her dating life and her experience on “The Bachelor.”
Declining the Role
Georgas explained, “I was offered the role. It was mine until I said it wasn’t. It became very overwhelming to the point where I had to decline. I just was not ready.”
Cooper mentioned that Georgas was initially supposed to promote her announcement as the next “Bachelorette” on the podcast, indicating that plans had changed.
Georgas’ Mental Unpreparedness
Georgas further revealed that she wasn’t mentally prepared for the show. Reflecting on her experience as a contestant on Graziadei’s season, she stated, “What people saw on their screens was only the half of what I went through in the house. I was so anxious throughout the whole thing. It’s so isolating being in there. I just wasn’t comfortable.”
Jenn Tran: The Perfect Pick
Georgas expressed her happiness with the selection of Jenn Tran as the next “Bachelorette” lead. She described Tran as the perfect choice, stating, “She was so ready for it, and that was enough for me to kind of say, ‘Yeah, it’s not my time.'”
No Expectations for ‘Bachelor in Paradise’
Georgas mentioned that she is currently single and not planning to appear on any future “Bachelor” shows, including “Bachelor in Paradise.”
