Bach Chamber Music Festival begins with the concert “Name for Young People” – Classical – Music – Culture +

The sister’s and brother’s concert program will feature Johann Sebastian Bach’s “Two Sonatas”, Thomas Antonio Vitali’s “Chacon for Violin Solo” and Igor Stravinsky’s Italian Suite from the ballet “Pulchinella”.

Madara studied the art of violin after studying at the Latvian Academy of Music in Italy with the famous teacher Roberto Mutoni. She has participated and won many prizes in international competitions in Italy and elsewhere. Daumants is one of the most outstanding young Latvian pianists; In 2019, he won the prestigious Vendom prize competition, gaining the opportunity to give a solo concert at the Verbye Festival and record the album with Steinway’s record company. In 2017, he received the “Great Music Award”. Daumants has won first places and audience awards in many international competitions, such as the Maria Canal International Competition in Barcelona, ​​the George Enescu Competition, the Geneva Piano Competition, etc., and has performed with the most famous European symphony orchestras.

Continuation of the festival on November 7 in the concert “Johann Sebastian and other Bahi” Riga St. Singers of the Latvian Radio Choir conducted by Pēteris Vaickovskis will play in St. John’s Church. Ainars Paukšēns (gamba) and Jānis Pelše (positive) will also take part in the concert. The quality of radio choir singers does not require comments, they participate in various programs and ensembles throughout Latvia. The Latvian Radio Choir (hence its soloists) has won worldwide recognition. The concert program will feature motets by Johann Sebastian Bach, Johann Christian Bach, and Johann Michael Bach.

The closing concert of the festival on November 10 in the Small Guild will be performed by the vocal group Schola Cantorum Riga (leader – Guntars Prānis), Rihards Zaļupe (percussion), Ivars Kalniņš (percussion) and Guntars Prānis (wheel lira). The concert program “ILLUMIN” will feature Gregorian chants, as well as improvisations for percussion instruments. Rihards Zaļupe together with Ivars Kalniņš will create an unforgettable art of improvisation together with ancient songs and a wheel lyric, on which Guntars Prānis will play.
