Baby is born in an ambulance in the center of Braga. 20 years ago that didn’t happen

The archbishop of Braga “welcomed with apprehension and surprise” the decision of the Renaissance group to “discontinue” Radio Sim, stating that he expects workers to “find solutions that are in harmony with their working conditions”.

In a note published on the website of the Diocese of Braga, the archbishop of Braga, Jorge Ortiga, recalls that “at a time when the number of elderly people in Portugal is growing, the Church should be close to them, producing content that would provide them with company. and help them, very concretely, to live, deepen and celebrate the faith ”.

On the 3rd, the Renascença Multimédia group announced that Radio Sim, a radio station created in 2008 and aimed at a more senior public, would “be discontinued for reasons of economic sustainability”.

“We cannot stop thinking about the workers. We hope that everyone can find solutions that are in harmony with their working conditions, knowing from the outset that this has already been properly addressed, ”says the diocese of Braga.

To the collaborators, “who, in a spirit of gratuity, gave their heart and soul to this project”, Jorge Ortiga leaves “sincere gratitude”.

“Radio Sim was a Church presence in the media with a great welcome from Christians,” it reads.

In the text, the archbishop of Braga also recalls that the Archdiocese “has always favored ecclesial unity, aware that life happens in big cities and in the peripheries”.

“To foster this experience, he renounced several initiatives of a local nature. He knows that it is not possible to be a Church without an openness to universality, starting by living it at the national level. It provided free spaces for this purpose and motivated people to generosity towards a nationwide project, ”he continues.

For this reason, he adds, “the Archdiocese will rethink its presence on the radio” without wasting too much time “and will guarantee to the simplest and most humble Christians to hear the voice of the Church.”

Jorge Ortiga also states that “the news was debated with the Metropolitan Chapter, which in the Archdiocese of Braga functions as a College of Consultants, and the Chapter would like to mark its incomprehension and sadness for what happened”.
