Baby born to a woman is revealed to be not biologically hers

Imagine spending almost nine months waiting for the day to meet your son and that right in labor you realize that the baby is not yours. It seems an unlikely story, but the truth is that this is what It has happened in San Isidro, Argentina.

A married couple who became pregnant through in vitro fertilization have realized that the baby they have had is not genetically yours. Something they did not understand since they did it without any donation of sperm or eggs, the entire process that was carried out was done with their genetic material (or so they thought).

However, when they already had the newborn in their arms, the father of the minor realized that something did not make sense: the baby’s blood group did not match his or his wife’s, so it was genetically impossible for the child to be his.

As it was done through in vitro treatment, the suspicion from the outset was that it was a ruling by the fertility clinic. An error without turning back before which the couple filed a complaint with the center and the justice system opened the investigation to understand what happened.

An embryo was transferred from another couple

This is how it was shown that the clinic they chose to carry out the process he had transferred another couple’s embryo to the pregnant woman. As reported by the clinic itself, the embryo of the affected couple did not turn out to be suitable for implantation, so it is ruled out that it is a double error and that she is pregnant with a baby that is not hers.

A small group of clients of the fertility center are seeing who could be the biological parents of the baby. Likewise, these have been informed and tests are being carried out to see if any analysis determines whose genetic material it is.

After the investigation, the case has already been closed and it has been concluded that It was a mistake by the fertility clinic, who had a failure in medical treatment. As it was an inadvertent case and without bad intentions behind it, justice has not considered it a crime of fraud or identity suppression.
