Microsoft’s cloud service Azure was hit yesterday by an eight-hour outage that knocked out the company’s virtual machines, reports ZDNet.
In the afternoon of the same, Microsoft reported that the company has now succeeded in mitigating the impact of the interruption. Microsoft staff expects all systems to be fully restored as soon as necessary updates are completed. Microsoft is also working to define the full problem so that it does not happen again.
According to Microsoft, some customers who tried to use Windows Virtual Machines to perform service were affected by the outage, but not any virtual machines that were already running. Services such as Azureops, which relies on Azure, may also have been affected.
