Azerbaijan and Armenia accuse each other of attacks on civilians

On Tuesday, Azerbaijan and Armenia accused each other of new attacks and violations of the ceasefire concluded through Russia.

Baku reports that a rocket strike by the Armenian side to the second largest city in Azerbaijan, Ganges, on Saturday morning has killed at least 13 civilians and injured more than 50.

Gendji has fired two rockets, both of which hit residential quarters. At least 20 buildings have been damaged, five of which have been completely destroyed.

The missiles were also fired at Mingechevir, but they were intercepted by Azerbaijan’s air defense system.

Azerbaijan claims that the firing of the cities was carried out with the Russian-made tactical ballistic missile complex “Elbruss”.

The Armenian Ministry of Defense has denied firing on Azerbaijani territory, claiming that it was not carried out by either the Armenian army or the forces of the internationally unrecognized Nagorno-Karabakh.

However, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has accused Yerevan of war crimes.

“They will have to answer for that …”. If the international community does not punish Armenia, then we will do it, ”Aliyev emphasized.

He also announced that the Azerbaijani army had taken full control of two previously Armenian-controlled areas, Fizuli and Jebrail.

Armenia, meanwhile, has accused Azerbaijan of shooting at Nagorno-Karabakh, including Stepanakert, the capital of the unrecognized Armenian Republic.

The Armenian Foreign Ministry has said three civilians have been injured in the shootings.

Yerevan has also announced that Azerbaijani drones have been attacked over populated areas in Armenia, attacking military and civilian infrastructure.

Armenian Prime Minister Nicholas Pashinyan called the attacks an “attempt to genocide the Armenian people.”

Meanwhile, Baku announced on Saturday that 60 Azerbaijani civilians have been killed and 270 injured since the start of hostilities on September 27.

Azerbaijan does not disclose military damage.

The Nagorno-Karabakh authorities say that 633 Armenian soldiers have died in the fighting with the Azerbaijani army and that 34 civilians have been killed in the war.
