Azerbaijan ambassador claims attack by Armenian citizens on the embassy in France

Azerbaijan Ambassador to France Rahman Mustafayev spoke about the attack on his country’s embassy in Paris. He called the attackers “Armenian fanatics”.

“Armenian fanatics living in France attacked the Azerbaijani embassy,” Mustafayev wrote on Twitter. He also complained that the French authorities do not adequately protect the Azerbaijani embassy.

From the footage of the surveillance cameras, released by the ambassador, it is clear that a group of 30 people gathered near the building, presumably the Azerbaijani embassy. Some of them have Armenian flags on their backs. Two men leave the group, pull away the fence enclosing the building and hit the windows and doors. However, after a couple of minutes, they are dragged away by others gathered.

On the night of September 13, Armenia reported that Azerbaijan had fired at its positions at the border. The Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense called this a response to Yerevan’s similar actions. Armenia reported that 135 people have died in the fighting since 13 September. Azerbaijan reported 79 deaths.
