AZ also won the fifth Eredivisie match of this season on Sunday. The Alkmaarders were too strong for PEC Zwolle with 0-3. Bruno Martins Indi made his return to the visitors after a year of injuries.
AZ took the lead in Zwolle in the thirteenth minute. Mayckel Lahdo was played by Yukinari Sugawara and scored from the turn.
Early in the second half, AZ doubled the margin. Myron van Brederode tried from just inside the penalty area and saw his shot end up in the far corner via the leg of Bram van Polen.
PEC were awarded a penalty fifteen minutes later when Apostolos Vellios went to the ground following a tackle by Riechedly Bazoer. But after VAR intervention, referee Edwin van de Graaf withdrew the penalty because Bazoer hit the ball first.

Martins Indi makes a comeback after years of injuries
Twenty minutes before the end there was even more reason to cheer for AZ, as Martins Indi made his return as a substitute. The 36-time Dutch international returned to the field after one year and six days of injuries.
Vangelis Pavlidis made it 0-3 in the ninetieth minute. The Greek was served by Ibrahim Sadiq and scored easily. He already scored his seventh league goal of this season.
With the victory, AZ recovered from the bizarre defeat against Bosnian Zrinsjsky Mostar last Thursday. Then coach Pascal Jansen’s team lost 4-3 after a 0-3 lead at halftime.
AZ is now second with fifteen points from five matches. The Alkmaarders have the same number of points as leader PSV, but a slightly lower goal difference. PEC Zwolle can be found in the middle bracket.
