Axsos company introduces first graduates in Ramallah

Ramallah (dpa) – The Stuttgart IT company Axsos presented the first Palestinian graduates of its software developer training program in Ramallah on Sunday. 40 students took part in the first round, the number of participants is to be increased gradually with the move to a new, larger building. According to its own statements, Axsos intends to train a total of around 7,000 Palestinians to become software developers in the coming years.

CEO Frank Müller called the first graduates “real heroes”. They had a “tough marathon” behind them and were “the living example of what we dream of”. The aim of the project is “that young Palestinians change the future, despite the uncertainty around them”. His advice to the graduates: “Concentrate on your chances, on your potential, on what is possible, and do not allow yourself to be overwhelmed by limitations.”

The Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammed Shtaje announced the start of the Axsos Academy last June. Due to the corona pandemic, however, the first round took place on a smaller scale than planned and there were delays.

With the programming courses, Axsos wants to promote both young Palestinians and the Palestinian IT industry. The participants should also be prepared for the European market. Programming languages such as Java Script are on the learning plan.

The four-month course costs the equivalent of 4200 euros, of which the students only have to pay ten percent themselves. The rest is subsidized by the Palestinian government.
