Axel Tuanzebe Sues Manchester United Over ‘Clinical Negligence’

Defender Claims Over £1m in High-Value Lawsuit

Former Manchester United defender Axel Tuanzebe has initiated legal proceedings against his former club, alleging clinical negligence. The lawsuit, filed with the High Court, centers on an injury sustained by the 27-year-old during his tenure at Old Trafford.

High-Value Claim Filed

The legal claim is understood to be substantial, potentially exceeding £1 million. **Tuanzebe**, who departed United in the summer of 2023, asserts that the club’s handling of a persistent injury from July 2022 constitutes negligence. This period saw him sidelined for 195 days in his final season.

Career Path Marked by Injuries

**Tuanzebe** experienced multiple injuries, including issues with his hip, ankle, and hamstring, throughout his time at Manchester United. After leaving the club, he had a loan spell at Stoke City before joining Ipswich Town as a free agent in September 2023.

He later moved to Burnley this month, following a period where he made over 40 appearances for Ipswich, predominantly as a first-choice right-back, despite continuing to battle injuries.

United’s Farewell to Tuanzebe

Upon his departure, Manchester United released a statement on their official website, acknowledging **Tuanzebe**’s contributions and character. The club stated, “His departure is an emotional one for the player and many at the club who have known and helped nurture him over the years. A fine character, he leaves United universally respected as a credit to himself and his family.”

The statement continued, “Everyone at the club would like to extend our best wishes to **Axel** as he embarks upon the next chapter of his career. We would also like to thank him for always representing Manchester United with class and dignity.”

Early Promise and Limited Appearances

**Tuanzebe** joined United’s academy at the age of eight and progressed through the ranks, captaining teams at various age levels. He made his senior debut in January 2017, but his first-team involvement remained limited, with only 37 appearances in six years.

His career at Old Trafford was punctuated by several loan spells, including stints with Aston Villa and Napoli. **Tuanzebe**’s final game for the Red Devils was the 2021 Europa League final, where he scored in a penalty shootout against Villarreal.

Having represented England at Under-21 level, **Tuanzebe** now plays international football for DR Congo, having earned three caps since his debut in 2024. According to a 2023 report by the Football Association, player injury claims against clubs have risen, reflecting the significant physical demands of modern professional football.

Neither **Tuanzebe**’s legal representatives nor Manchester United have yet provided comments on the ongoing case.
