Awards – Offenbach am Main – Hessian Film and Cinema Prize is awarded – Society

Offenbach (dpa / lhe) – “And the winner is …” is the motto again this Friday (8:00 pm) when the Hessian Film and Cinema Prize is awarded. Because of the corona pandemic, the award ceremony will take place on a smaller scale with around 350 invited guests in the Capitol in Offenbach. Last year the gala that had been splendidly staged in the Alte Oper in Frankfurt in previous years had to be canceled. The event will be broadcast live on the Internet.

The nominees in the feature film and documentary film categories include “Le Prince” by Lisa Bierwirth, which is set in Frankfurt’s Bahnhofsviertel, and Maria Speth’s “Herr Bachmann und seine Klasse”, set in Stadtallendorf in Central Hesse.

In the Hessischer Rundfunk (HR) categories of the Hessian Television Prize, Best Actress and Best Actor, Felicitas Woll for her role “You shouldn’t lie” and Martin Wuttke for his role in “Today dies here Kainer” are on the nominees list .

It is already known that the Prime Minister’s honorary award goes to director Volker Schlöndorff (“Die Blechtrommel”) – a native of Wiesbaden – and the newcomer award goes to director Aliaksei Paluyan. Born in Belarus, Paluyan came to Kassel in 2012 to study directing. His current documentary “Courage” shows the protests in Belarus against the ruler Lukashenko. The Hessian Film and Cinema Awards have been awarded annually since 1990.
