AvtoVAZ raised car prices

MOSCOW, April 1 – RIA News. AvtoVAZ raised prices for its cars by an average of one percent, a company spokesman told RIA Novosti.–

The interlocutor of the agency said that “this is the smallest adjustment in the market among the players.”

About the upcoming price increase by the Russian automaker in late March, RIA Novosti was informed by a source familiar with the company’s plans.

Auto experts interviewed by the agency noted that cars are gradually rising in price by about ten percent amid a weakening ruble against major world currencies.

So, Renault cars rose in price by 1.14%, Volkswagen raised the cost of popular models by 17-90 thousand rubles, Kia – by one percent for almost the entire line, Peugeot and Citroen – by two percent.

The main factor in weakening global markets and falling oil demand remains the coronavirus pandemic. In addition, the collapse of quotations occurred against the backdrop of news about the collapse of the OPEC + deal: Moscow wanted to maintain the existing conditions, and Riyadh – to further reduce production.–

The Russian currency, which does not withstand such pressure, is weakening again: this morning the dollar exchange rate “tomorrow” rose to 79.155 rubles, the euro – to 86.87 rubles.
