AMSTELVEEN The number of newly diagnosed coronavirus (COVID-19) infections in Amstelveen has turned out to be about the same compared to last week. This is evident from the weekly update of the RIVM figures. In two weeks (from November 18 to December 1) the virus was diagnosed in 261 inhabitants of Amstelveen. That hardly differs from the previous measurement period (from 11 to 24 November). Then the virus was diagnosed in 263 inhabitants. The average is therefore still almost 19 infections per day.
Compared to last week, the current contamination rate in Amstelveen has decreased slightly from 286.9 to 284.7 per 100,000 inhabitants.
AMSTERDAM In Amsterdam, a relatively larger decrease in the number of corona infections occurred in the past two weeks. In the capital in the past two weeks (from November 18 to December 1), 3,653 residents were tested positive for the corona virus. In the previous measurement period (from 11 to 24 November), 3,938 new corona infections were detected. The current contamination rate in Amsterdam therefore decreased further from 451.2 to 418.6 per 100,000 inhabitants. However, the contamination level is still considerably higher than in Amstelveen.
RURAL Last week, according to the RIVM, there was a slight decrease in the number of new reports of COVID-19 infections nationally. There were 33,949 new reports last week. The week before, there were 36,931. The decrease was 8 percent. However, the reproduction number is still approximately 1. This means that on average each patient still infects one other, so that the total number of infections remains approximately the same level.
LESS HOSPITAL ADMISSIONS The number of people admitted to hospital or intensive care for COVID-19 has decreased last week. The number of hospital admissions was 1,007 (compared to 1,291 admissions in the previous week). The number of IC admissions was 183 in the past week (compared to 193 the week before). Although these numbers are declining slightly, according to the RIVM, hospital and IC admissions are about the same as the numbers in the first half of October. During that period it was decided that additional measures were needed to reduce the spread.
