Average food prices have grown in Ukraine over the year

Manufacturers’ selling prices for sunflower oil averaged UAH 49.66 / kg

Manufacturers’ selling prices for sunflower oil jumped 70%, and for sugar – 75%.

In Ukraine, over the year, producer prices for food products increased by 9-75%. This is evidenced by data the financial and economic department of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy on Monday, 6 September.

Thus, the purchase prices for wheat (grades 2, 3 and 4) in annual terms increased by 16% (to 7780, 7685, 7464 UAH / t without VAT, respectively). And the purchase prices for corn increased by 27% (up to 7007 UAH / t without VAT).

At the same time, producers’ selling prices for corn grits averaged UAH 12.91 / kg (+ 24%), for millet grits – UAH 14.10 / kg (+ 13%); for pea groats – 14.33 UAH / kg (+ 20%), for barley groats – 11.20 UAH / kg (+ 31%); for buckwheat – 35.63 UAH / kg (14%).

At the same time, producer prices for cattle meat increased by 13% – up to 108.15 UAH / kg with VAT, for pig meat – by 5% (up to 89.61 UAH / kg).

In turn, producers’ selling prices for sunflower oil averaged UAH 49.66 / kg (+ 70%). For sugar – 22.09 UAH / kg (+ 75%); for premium milk – UAH 21.75 / kg (+ 14%); butter – 174.12 UAH / kg (+ 9%).

Cabbage was sold on average at UAH 5.15 / kg (+ 12%), beets – at UAH 7.41 / kg (+ 49%), carrots – at UAH 7.97 / kg (+ 23%).

Earlier it was reported that in July inflation in Ukraine rose to 10.2% in annual terms. This is the highest figure since 2018. At the same time, compared with June, prices rose by only 0.1%. And since the beginning of the year, prices have risen by 6.5%.

The Ministry of Economy said that high inflation in the first half of the year is the result of the influence of external prices and uncertainty about the next wave of the pandemic.
