Literally: “It’s a pity to admit it, but Avdiivka is becoming more and more like a place from post-apocalyptic films or … like Marinka completely destroyed by Russians …

Therefore, a difficult decision was made to evacuate from Avdiivka the rest of our heroes – public utilities, who at least somehow tried to maintain the cleanliness and vitality of the city.”

Details: Barabash noted that he strongly recommends leaving Avdiivka.

In a video message, he also stated that mobile communications would be turned off in the city.

“We will turn off mobile communications in the city, because, unfortunately, as practice shows, this is a minus for the whole city, because there are not very Ukrainians who rent, they say … It will not be possible to charge the phone, because for a couple of days – and there will be no one to service the generators, launch the mobile tower,” he said.

Background:

  • On March 20, British intelligence reported that the situation in Avdiivka, Donetsk region, is tactically similar to what is happening in Bakhmut. In particular, according to intelligence, Ukrainian troops continue to defend in an organized manner, but their “supply lines to the west are under increasing threat due to the Russian encirclement operation.”
  • The Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that in the near future Avdiivka could become a “second Bakhmut”.
  • Despite the constant shelling of the invaders, almost 2,000 people remain in Avdiivka who refuse to leave.
  • On March 24, Aleksey Dmitrashkovsky, a spokesman for the Tauride Defense Forces, said that the Avdiivka direction is now one of the hottest on the front, but even there the Russian invaders are “running out of steam”, just like in the Bakhmut direction.
