Avanza Leaving! This is the new ‘King’ of Indonesian cars

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia National car sales grew positively in October 2021 compared to the same period last year (year-on-year/yoy). There was a surprise where the car of a million people, the Avanza, was kicked out of the position of the best-selling car champion last month. Automatic, there is a new king on the throne of this month’s best-selling car.

Wholesale car sales (distribution from factories to dealers) in October 2021 grew 54.1% yoy compared to October 2020. The number of cars sold was 75,544 units, based on data from the Indonesian Automotive Industry Association (Gaikindo).

However, when compared to September, car sales this month fell 10.2% month-to-month (mom). The reason is Avanza’s monthly sales which fell 77.41% mtm, to only 1,701 units in October.

The news about the appearance of the All New Avanza has an impact on potential consumers who delay purchases to wait for a new model. This is allegedly causing the national car sales to decline.

Avanza is the car with the largest contribution of 6.82% of national sales. Cars sold from January to October 2021 amounted to 47,972 units

The top-selling car standings in October 2021 is the Toyota Rush with sales of 5,312 units.

The largest contribution came from the 2021 New Rush 1.5 GR Sport A/T with sales of 2,798 units, followed by the 2021 New Rush 1.5 GR Sport A/T with 2,508 units.

The two types of New Rush were released with the new GR variant last August, so they are able to attract buyers.

The GR Sport variant is the most luxurious variant and replaces the TRD Sportivo, which was first introduced at the All New Toyota Raize GR Sport, April.

With the model body kit sporty, dynamic, and classy on the exterior so it is different from other variants underneath.

“The presence of the GR Sport type as the most luxurious model on the Agya, Yaris, Rush, Fortuner and GR Limited on Veloz gives AutoFamily wider opportunities to have a more fresh, sporty, dynamic, and luxurious model option without leaving the main value of each model. While there is still a PPnBM discount program until this August,” said Martogi Siahaan, Chief Executive of Auto2000.
