AUTUMN WEATHER: We will see the summer soon, the forecast says

In September, according to the monthly outlook, we will not see the weather of the tropics. “The weather will be good for trips and walks in nature. We expect more clouds and precipitation in the first half of the month, at the end of the month, with reduced clouds, ground frosts may already occur,” described meteorologist Dagmar Honsová.

According to the seasonal outlook of the Iri Institute and the NCEP center in Central Europe, the meteorological autumn, we are talking about September, October and November, should be average in terms of temperature and precipitation compared to the long-term normal of 1981 – 2010. It is 7.9 ° average in the Czech Republic. C, average precipitation totals are around 50 mm, states Honsová and adds: “This year’s autumn weather will probably follow on from the summer weather, which corresponded to the long-term characteristics for Central Europe.”

Autumn weather is associated with morning fog or low clouds, shortening the length of sunshine, falling temperatures and mostly the first snowflakes. For example, in 2012, it snowed on October 27 in Prague.

A very pleasant time of autumn is the old lady’s summer. This results in an area of high air pressure centered over Eastern, Southeastern or Central Europe combined with warm southern, southwestern or southeastern currents.

“The mid-summer period in Central Europe occurs with up to 70% probability, so it will probably appear for a few days this year as well – according to the weather forecast for September, we can look forward to it at the end of it,” said Hons.

Weather forecast for September

According to the Czech Hydrometeorological Institute (CHMI), weekly temperatures in August were mostly above the long-term normal, this trend should continue during September. “Except for the first week of September, when temperatures around the long-term normal are expected, temperatures will be higher than normal. The maximum weekly temperatures should be around 22 ° C, the minimum mostly around 10 ° C. The period from 31 August to 27 September as a whole should be above normal in temperature, “assesses CHMI.

Period from 1 September to 10 September

According to Honsová, the first week will usually be accompanied by heavy clouds. In the middle of the season, it may be temporarily partly cloudy to cloudy, so that showers and thunderstorms will occur only rarely. Mists may appear in the morning. Daily temperatures will be around 14 to 20 ° C initially and at the end of the period, around 20 to 27 ° C in the middle of the period.

Period from 21 September to 30 September

It should mostly be partly cloudy to cloudy, sometimes with rain showers. It may be almost clear at the end of the season, with fog or low clouds appearing in the morning, according to Hons.
