Munich / Mühldorf (dpa / lby) – The relocation of the Office for Rural Development Upper Bavaria from Munich to Mühldorf is progressing. Agriculture Minister Michaela Kaniber (CSU) announced on Monday in Munich that the Free State bought the property for the new service building in Mühldorf. “With the acquisition of the land, we have reached an important milestone in the relocation project. Now we want to start planning the new service building quickly,” she emphasized. According to the information, sustainability and energy efficiency should also be taken into account in the new building for around 140 employees.

As part of the home strategy, the cabinet decided in 2015 to relocate the central authority responsible for all of Upper Bavaria from the Munich metropolitan area to the Mühldorf district. The project should be completed by 2025. When looking for a suitable location, the district town turned out to be the first choice due to its good transport links. However, the Free State had neither real estate nor suitable land there. That is why he has now acquired the approximately 10,000 square meter property in the “Am Kirchenfeld” area on the northern outskirts. Around 35 percent of the employees in the authority come from the Mühldorf area.
