The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced the jury’s verdict, which‍ carries a potential sentence ⁢of up ⁢to 40 years in prison.

New Castle County⁢ Officers Hailed for Preventing Potential Attack at ⁢University of delaware

University of delaware Police, wiht assistance from ⁤New Castle County officers, have averted a potential terrorist attack after discovering a loaded handgun-modified to function as a submachine ⁤gun-along with body armor⁣ and attack plans inside a⁣ vehicle on campus. Luqmaan Kahn was arrested ⁣at the scene and is‌ believed to have been planning the attack.

The swift action by law enforcement has drawn widespread ⁤praise from university officials and state legislators,⁢ highlighting the‌ critical role of proactive policing in safeguarding the community.⁣ “I ‍can’t ⁢thank you ⁤officers enough for following your ‍instincts, conducting a thorough investigation, and, at the ⁤end ‌of the day, averting a ‍terrorist attack,”‌ said University ⁢of Delaware police Chief‍ Patrick Ogden. The incident underscores the ongoing threat of campus‍ violence and the importance of vigilance in protecting educational institutions.

Title: National Parks: Trump’s Birthday Added, MLK Day & Juneteenth Removed

by Emma Walker – News Editor December 6, 2025
written by Emma Walker – News Editor

National Park Service Adds Trump’s birthday ⁢as⁣ Fee-Free Day, Drops ⁤MLK Day and Juneteenth

WASHINGTON – The National Park ‌Service (NPS) announced today ‌it will include June 14 ⁢- former President Donald Trump’s birthday – as one‍ of its five annual fee-free days, while simultaneously removing Martin Luther King Jr. Day ⁤and Juneteenth from the list.⁤ The ⁣changes, effective immediately, come as the NPS prepares to implement increased ‌entrance fees for non-U.S.citizens and permanent residents beginning in 2026.

The ⁢decision to add⁤ trump’s birthday ‌and eliminate the civil rights-focused holidays has sparked immediate controversy, raising questions about the prioritization of access and⁤ commemoration ‌within the national park system. Approximately 100 ⁣of the⁤ nation’s 400 national parks ‍currently charge ‌an entrance ⁣fee, with costs⁣ varying by location. The move coincides with a broader policy shift ⁢announced earlier this week, increasing‌ fees for international visitors ⁢and prioritizing access for⁣ U.S.residents.

The trump administration initially directed the parks to⁤ increase entry fees for foreign tourists via a ⁢July executive order. Under the new policy, non-U.S. citizens and‍ permanent‍ residents will face⁤ a $100⁣ entrance fee at 11 popular parks, and an annual pass will increase from $80 to $250 starting in 2026. U.S. residents will continue to enjoy ⁤free access‍ on the designated fee-free⁢ days, which now include January 1, the⁢ first day of National Park Week in‌ April, the Great American Outdoors Day in August, National⁢ Public Lands Day in September, ⁤and June 14.

Interior Secretary Doug Burgum stated on social media that the changes⁤ ensure U.S.taxpayers “continue to enjoy affordable access, while international visitors⁣ contribute their fair share to maintaining and improving our parks for future generations!” The ⁢Department of ⁢the Interior estimates the surcharge ⁢on international⁤ visitors will generate over $90 ⁤million annually.

In‍ 2018, national parks and monuments welcomed over 14 million international visitors, according to the⁣ U.S. Travel Association. More recently,‌ Yellowstone‌ National Park⁤ reported that nearly 15% of its 2024 visitors were from outside the country, a decrease from 30% in 2018.

Shocking Stand-Up: Sarah Sherman’s Unflinching Exploration of the Body

by Emma Walker – News Editor December 6, 2025
written by Emma Walker – News Editor

Sarah‌ Sherman Is ⁢Grosser Than You Think

Sarah Sherman doesn’t just challenge comedic⁢ boundaries;⁣ she pulverizes them. Her performance style, a jarring collision of body horror and stand-up tropes, has quickly established her as a singular voice in comedy, ⁣particularly through her work on Saturday Night Live and her ‍recent Max special. But the deliberately shocking act of “Sarah Squirm” wasn’t a sudden invention. its ⁣a carefully constructed persona built on ‌a foundation of mainstream‌ influences, a rebellious streak, and a willingness to embrace the “freak” within.

The impact of Sherman’s act is visceral.A recent performance involved a grotesque reveal: opening her legs wide to reveal a mouth that, smiling spookily, spurted out chunky ⁤period blood from between⁢ its teeth. “Look at the screen!” Sherman yelled, as ⁣audience members reacted with ⁤a mixture of squeals and horrified glee. ‍She deliberately layers her unsettling material with the familiar cadence of a macho comedian – “D’you know what ⁢I mean?” and “You kidding me?” – creating a disorienting effect. The result, as one observer noted, is a “bizarro blend of Rodney⁣ Dangerfield and⁢ Hannah wilke.”

Following a taping of her special, a visit to‌ Sherman’s dressing room revealed‌ a stark contrast to the stage persona. She‌ sat huddled ‌with ‌her long-term boyfriend, Dan Sloan, ‌a sweet-faced academic. ‍Stripped of⁣ her clown makeup and polka-dot top, she appeared slight and pretty in a white undershirt, her glittery eyeshadow the only remaining trace of ⁣performance.she suddenly resembled, as one account described, “a nice upper-middle-class Jewish girl from Long Island,” which, in ⁤essence, she is. A hug offered in greeting was quickly withdrawn, accompanied ⁢by genuine concern:‍ “I’m so‍ sorry-am I really sweaty?”

Sherman’s ⁢upbringing in Great Neck, Long Island, hardly foreshadowed her ‍current career path. Her father owns a children’s clothing company and commutes daily⁤ to Manhattan via the Long Island Rail Road. Her mother is a retired teacher, and⁣ her younger brother works in market research in the city. She⁤ remains close to‌ her family, though she acknowledges a certain tension, stating her parents are “hot, and I’m sort of reactionary to⁢ them.”

As a teenager,‌ Sherman‍ was⁢ a well-adjusted student and athlete, running ‍track and working as a lifeguard and‍ swim ‌teacher. While not part of ⁢the popular crowd, she was well-liked. “I was funny, and when you’re funny you can be really socially mobile,” she explained. She even received an ⁣invitation from the high school quarterback, which‍ she declined. Her‌ true passion, from a young age, was comedy.

her early comedic influences were rooted in⁢ network television. She was captivated by sitcoms like Seinfeld ⁣ and The Nanny, appreciating their ‍”prickly…tri-state jewish⁤ humor.” (She continues to incorporate the slap-bass theme from Seinfeld into her sets.) Later, she discovered the sharp wit of Joan Rivers and Kathy Griffin ⁢through E!’s ⁤ Fashion Police and Bravo’s My‌ Life on the D-List, respectively.

Sherman began frequenting stand-up shows⁣ in the ⁤city with friends (“We’d be, like, ‘Louis C.K. is doing a drop-in at the Creek and the Cave!'”) and joined the improv club at great⁣ Neck South High⁢ School. They staged comedy shows in the basement of the local library, which housed a ⁤youth community centre called Levels. Attending Levels carried a social stigma, as fellow ⁣great Neck native Ronald Bronstein, who executive-produced Sherman’s special, put it: “If you went to ⁣Levels, you had a⁢ taint on⁤ you.” Sherman, though, embraced the unconventional atmosphere. “I thought Levels was cool as ⁤everyone was a crazy fucking loser,” she said. It was there she earned the nickname “Squirm” from her ⁢peers: “They called me ‘Squirmin’ Sherman’ because I⁢ was sort‍ of skinny and gross.”

Supreme Court approves pro-Trump Texas map for 2026. What’s next?

by Emma Walker – News Editor December 6, 2025

Supreme Court backs Texas Congressional Map Favored by Republicans

WASHINGTON – The Supreme Court on Friday approved a ⁣new congressional map for Texas, drawn by the state’s⁤ Republican-controlled legislature, in a notable victory for the GOP ahead of the 2026 midterm elections. The decision allows the map to be used in upcoming elections, perhaps bolstering Republican chances of maintaining or expanding their majority in the House of⁣ Representatives.

The‌ case centered on allegations that the Texas map violated Section‌ 2‍ of the Voting ⁣Rights Act‌ by diluting the voting⁤ power ‍of minority voters. Civil rights groups ⁢and Democratic challengers argued the map unlawfully reduced the number of districts where minority‌ voters could elect their ‍preferred candidates. However, the Supreme Court sided with Texas officials, finding no evidence of discriminatory‍ intent or effect.

This ruling arrives as the Supreme Court also considers two other election-related cases concerning deadlines for counting mailed⁢ ballots and ⁢limits on ⁣campaign⁣ contributions.⁣ The justices have⁢ agreed to‌ hear arguments regarding whether mailed ballots postmarked by Election Day should be counted, following a triumphant challenge by the ⁣Republican Party against⁤ mississippi’s five-day grace period. Sixteen states currently ‌allow such grace periods, a practice potentially threatened by the Court’s eventual decision,‍ according to‌ the National Conference of State Legislatures.

Another case before the Court challenges a⁤ 2001 decision limiting how much political parties can spend on advertising in coordination with federal ‍candidates. Republicans, including senator J.D. Vance, are challenging the ruling, while Democrats argue⁣ that limits are necessary to prevent corruption‍ amid⁢ record campaign ⁢spending.
