A passerby was killed and one of the alleged attackers killed by the intervening police – such information was provided on Monday evening by the Austrian services. The head of the country’s interior ministry informed that there was a manhunt for “several heavily armed and dangerous criminals”. The search is not limited to Vienna only. A spokesman for the Austrian Ministry of the Interior reported on ORF television – all six locations where the shots were fired are near the central synagogue in Vienna, but there is no confirmation of information that the attack was directed against the Jewish community in the city. The official added that it is currently impossible to confirm or deny emerging reports that one of the attackers was wearing an explosive belt. However, there was no explosion.
