Austria and Croatia announce first cases – News

Austrian public broadcaster ORF reported, citing authorities in the western Tirol region, that two cases of Covid-19 infection were confirmed, one of which was an Italian citizen.

The broadcaster did not say whether the person concerned recently traveled from Italy to Tirol or if he resides in that region.

The two people have a mild fever and are hospitalized in isolation at the Innsbruck hospital.

Croatia also announced this Tuesday its first case, a man who recently traveled to Turin, a city in northern Italy.

“We determined the first patient to have the virus confirmed,” Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic told the press.

The prime minister needed to be “a young man, with a slight manifestation of the disease”, who was “placed in isolation” in a hospital in the capital, Zagreb, and is “in good condition”.

The Covid-19 coronavirus appeared in December in Hubei, in central China, and has already infected around 80,000 people in dozens of countries.

77,658 cases were recorded in mainland China, 2,663 of which were fatal. In Hong Kong there are 81 cases, two fatal, and in Macau 10 cases.

The second most affected country is South Korea, with 977 cases and 11 deaths, followed by Japan, with 850 cases (four fatalities), including at least 691 on the Diamond Princess cruise, where on Saturday the infection of a Portuguese citizen was confirmed. .

Italy appears in fourth place, registering 283 cases of infection by Covid-19, seven of them deadly, and Iran in fifth, with 95 cases and 15 deaths.

The list continues with Singapore (89 cases), United States (35), Thailand (37) Taiwan (30 cases, one death), Australia (23), Malaysia (22), Germany and Vietnam, (16 each), France (12, one mortal), United Arab Emirates and United Kingdom both with 13 and Canada with 8.

Below 10 registered cases are Bahrain (8) and Kuwait (8), Iraq (5), Spain, Philippines and India with 3, Russia, Israel and Oman with 2, with 2 and Belgium, Croatia, Finland, Sweden, Afghanistan , Cambodia, Egypt, Lebanon, Nepal and Sri Lanka with one case each.
