The police thought there were illegal substances in the tea

The women ordered a batch of tea, but the border guards thought it contained drugs.

In Australia, two women, Connie Chong and Melanie Lim from Greenacre, NSW, spent five months behind bars after ordering a shipment of ginger tea from China. Writes about it Nine News.

The batch of tea they purchased aroused suspicion among local border guards. This happened in January this year. Law enforcement officials came to the house of the women with a search, and accused them of drug trafficking. After that, the women were arrested.

It is noted that the police relied on the results of a preliminary examination, which showed that the tea purchased by Chong and Lim contained prohibited substances. However, the official examination of the goods began in April, and the results were received in July.

They showed that the tea did not contain drugs, and therefore the women were released. Those illegally arrested have already filed a claim for damages.

We will remind, earlier Canadian scientists warned that plastic tea bags can be dangerous for health. In particular, when heated to 95 degrees Celsius, they release billions of plastic particles that seriously threaten the human body.
