Australian Open | Another buzz around Djokovic. Did he break the rules?!

Djokovic is undoubtedly an excellent tennis player, to whom the tournament in Australia really proves. After last year’s scandal with his deportation from the country, this year he is aiming for his 22nd Grand Slam title overall, which would match his great rival Rafael Nadal.

Even though the Serb has been troubled by problems with his left hamstring since the start of the tournament, he is doing well. He has lost only one set so far, in the 2nd round against the Frenchman Enzo Couacaud. Last time, he easily dealt with the Russian tennis player Andrey Rublyov in the quarterfinals. And it was during this match that he caused a stir again.

He received a water bottle with something attached to it from his team in the third game of the first set. The Serb then discreetly examined it on the bench. At that time he was leading 2:1 and subsequently broke his opponent. Fans are now speculating as to what it could have been. Was it perhaps additional advice or a bag with an ion preparation?

Already in the previous round against the home De Minaur, the tennis player had received a message on a bottle from his team on the opposite side of the court, raising suspicions that there might have been a violation of the rules. Coaching is allowed at the Australian Open, but only when the coaches and the player are on the same side of the court. If they are opposite, only signals and gestures can communicate.

Djokovic and his team are silent about the situation and it is not the first time. It seems that the tennis champion thrives on such “scandals” and enjoys arousing suspicion among fans. Think of his “mysterious” inhalation at Wimbledon or drinking a “magic potion” during the tournament in Paris last November.

For some fans, his causes are stolen, others are outraged, saying that the rules should apply equally to everyone, and a star of such stature as Djokovic undoubtedly is, does not need such mysteries.
