Former Australian golf star Greg Norman, 65, said Friday that he was hospitalized for the coronavirus in a message posted on his Instagram account.

The former world number one had reported in a video Thursday that he was suffering from mild “potentially covid” symptoms, such as fever, cough and headache, even though he tested negative on Tuesday.

Norman quarantined himself at his home in the American city of Jupiter (Florida) but on Friday he posted a photo on Instagram in which he appears in a hospital bed, wearing a mask of the Pittsburgh Steelers of the American football league (NFL). ).

“This sums it up. My Christmas day,” wrote the Australian next to the image.

The 1986 and 1993 British Open winner added that he wanted to “put this (the virus) behind us, never to experience it again.”

Just last week the Australian competed with his son Greg Jr. in the PNC Championship in Orlando (Florida), a family tournament on the PGA circuit in which they finished in shared ninth place.
