Austin Theory is getting excessive screen time on WWE television lately and fans are wondering why. Last Monday night on Raw, news broke that explained why Austin Theory had so much screen time.
Vince McMahon appeared in the backstage segments of Theory on Monday Night Raw. In the last hour of the show, one thing led to another and McMahon slapped Theory. Fans can argue that having Theory get slapped by McMahon isn’t the best way to put him over the top.
Austin Theory a hit with young audiences
The segments are believed to have been put together with the intention of impressing the boss. According to Dave Meltzer’s report in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Theory earned so much TV time because his event with Big E two weeks ago was such a hit, especially among teens.
During her interview on “After The Bell with Corey Graves,” Theory commented on McMahon’s slap:
“It’s like when you think wrestling, and you think wrestling, it’s Vince McMahon. I think when I sit there and talk to him, he doesn’t get bigger than this, and that’s it. I probably watched the video of being slapped 100 times. I would just say don’t bother Vince McMahon because he has some hands. “
The 24-year-old is one of the company’s young fighters. It is presented as a visual element for the organization in order to attract a younger audience, as the younger demographic is of the highest priority for advertisers.
