Audit city of Antwerp about El Kaouakibi: up to 350,000 euros in incorrect invoices, “rather superficial control”

The bookkeeping was “sloppy”, it sounds again. But the conclusions also go a lot further. Because, according to the authors of the audit, it is – for example – by no means certain that employees of the private companies have not been paid with the operating grant for Let’s Go Urban (LGU), the dance project for underprivileged young people.

The loan agreement would also not be valid. Through that agreement, the now illustrious kitchen did not end up at LGU but in JJ House – one of the private initiatives of Sihame El Kaoukibi and her partner Erika Nguyen. But it was not presented to the board of directors or to the city of Antwerp. It would even violate the allowance law. And, according to the city, it also appears that invoices were forged, six in total, worth about 54,000 euros, which were supposed to hide the fact that subsidy money went to its private companies.
