The golden age of the Congolese Rumba is closely linked to Sam Mangwana. He has linked different styles and influences throughout his career and, at 75 years of age, is a contemporary witness of an era. “Lubamba” is the name of his current album and on it he can also be heard with the saxophone legend Manu Dibongo.
We will also play music for you from the film drama “Run, boy run”, composed by the French Stéphane Moucha. Incidentally, he also wrote music for the Oscar-winning political thriller “The Lives of Others”.
Sara Tavares has long been one of the world‘s most sought-after artists. Raised in Lisbon as a child of Cape Verdean parents, she was left on her own very early – without parents. She hung around the street a lot and then found her way to music. At the age of 16 she represented Portugal at the ESC in Dublin.
And we delight you with Celtic sounds of The Outside Track – the members of the quintet come from Ireland, Scotland and Canada.
