An entirely new technology architecture, PPE (Premium Platform Electric), will serve as the technology platform for these cars in the future. From the end of 2022, the first series-produced cars in the C and later in the B segment will come with PPE technology, including for the first time in the electric car market both high-ground passenger cars (SUVs) and dynamic low-altitude models, such as as the upcoming Audi A6 e-tron.
The Audi A6 electric drive system has a long tradition: after the full hybrid version launched in 2011, the current Audi A6 TFSIe debuted in 2019 with plug-in hybrid drive and electric mileage. up to 91 kilometers (WLTP cycle).
In contrast to the latest model, the Audi A6 e-tron concept car, presented at the 2021 Shanghai Motor Show, relies entirely on electric power. At the same time, it also offers a completely new design concept – the only thing that is the same as the current “A6” model is its dimensions. The 4.96-meter-long, 1.96-meter-wide and 1.44-meter-high body is designed as a Sportback, and its lines clearly reflect the systematic progress of Audi’s current design language.
The exterior of the Audi A6 e-tron concept car, which debuts at the Shanghai Motor Show, is much more than a simple realization of design ideas – the body of the model is an example of Audi’s future production and gives a clear indication of how dynamic and elegant the brand’s electric luxury car class will look.
Meanwhile, the PPE platform will provide a dynamic driving experience and suitability for everyday use as the main car in the family. Depending on the drive system and model version chosen, the Audi A6 e-tron could in the future cover more than 700 kilometers on a single charge (WLTP cycle), but the most powerful members of the family will accelerate from speed to 100 km / h in less than four seconds.
The aerodynamic drag coefficient of just 0.22 is unprecedented in the electric C-segment, which means that the car has minimal aerodynamic drag, which ensures lower energy consumption and thus a longer driving distance on a single charge. On the other hand, 22-inch wheels and short overhangs and a wide curvature of the coupe’s roof give the car proportions that are very similar to a sports car.
The headlights and taillights are thin and visually complement the body lines. Digital Matrix LED and digital OLED technology enable you to achieve maximum brightness and a wide range of functions even with a minimal surface area, while offering customizable light designs. In turn, four high-resolution LED projectors, unobtrusively built into the corners of the car, create turn signal projections. The design of these projections can be modified to suit different markets and regions.
Digital Matrix LED headlights achieve near cinema quality. For example, if the Audi A6 e-tron is placed in front of a wall to charge the battery, the driver and passenger can spend time playing a video game projected on that wall. In addition, for the first time, projections around the car allow you to expand the range of communication outside the car. Through intelligent connectivity, the Audi A6 e-tron concept car provides information to other road users via visual signals.
The two electric motors of the Audi A6 e-tron concept car are capable of providing a total power of 350 kW and 800 newton meters of torque. Like the Audi e-tron GT before, this technology ensures that the battery of the Audi A6 e-tron concept car can be charged with up to 270 kW in a very short time at fast charging stations. It only takes 10 minutes to charge the battery to a level that can cover more than 300 kilometers. The Audi A6 e-tron concept car’s 100 kWh battery can be charged from 5% to 80% in less than 25 minutes.
Combined with a mileage of more than 700 kilometers, depending on the drive system and power chosen, the Audi A6 e-tron concept car is suitable for use as the main car in the family.
