The S label has become multi-energy. After gasoline and diesel, make way for electricity! The first 100% electric vehicles from Audi are indeed entitled to their muscular variant. The Sportback S e-tron and e-tron have three electric motors, a first in series. There is one on the front axle, two on the rear axle.
The maximum power is 370 kW, or 503 hp, against 408 hp on the 55 quattro. It is, however, a point peak in S mode, for eight seconds. What help to go from 0 to 100 km / h in 4.5 seconds. The maximum speed remains limited to a reasonable value, 210 km / h.
In normal driving, only the rear engines are used. The front comes to their rescue when the driver needs better performance or when grip is more precarious. The electric all-wheel drive here gains torque vectorization: without a mechanical differential, each of the rear electric motors sends the torque directly to the wheel via a speed transmission.
These S variants keep a battery with a net capacity of 95 kWh (86 kWh useful). Result: WLTP autonomy is decreasing, with 360 km on the e-tron and 365 km on the Sportback e-tron. The classic e-tron 55 announces 415 km.
The S have 20-inch rims as standard (21-inch rims are optional). At the front there are fixed six-piston calipers. At the rear, they are floating stirrups. The calipers are painted black with the S logo but can be painted in bright orange. The silhouette of the car is muscular thanks to 23 mm wider wheel arches, which adds almost 5 cm in width. The rest of the look barely changes, we find the elements of the S line aesthetic pack, with the triangular air intakes. There are of course no huge tailpipes! On board, there are sport seats with leather / Alcantara upholstery series decorated with an S. The decorative inserts are in brushed aluminum and can be in carbon on request.
These models will be launched in Europe this fall.
