“Audas” and “Super Nova” footballers enter the third round of the Latvian Cup

On Sunday, in the second round of the Latvian Cup, the football clubs “Super Nova” and Ķekava “Auda” playing in the first league won victories over the teams playing in the second and third leagues. But for both, success came in a difficult battle.

“Super Nova” competed with the leaders of the Latvian second league tournament FC “Salaspils”, who have won all five games this season. The result was revealed only in the 69th minute, when Artyom Osipov nominated the “Super Nova” team, but already three minutes later his namesake Kozlovsky achieved a 1: 1 equalization. In the 7th minute of the extension, Kozlovskis was punctual again, and now under the leadership of “Salaspils”. However, in the last five minutes of overtime, Edgars Kārkliņš and Osipovs scored two more goals and secured the Super Nova 3: 2.

FC “Auda” met with the guests of the Riga team “Tente”, in the middle of the first half did not take an 11-meter penalty kick and was unable to break the opponents’ defense until the 71st minute. However, Artyom Pavlovsky was hit exactly, 12 minutes later Mark Udovichenko doubled the lead, and Auda celebrated the victory 2-0.

A few days earlier, another Pieriga club competed with the “Tente” team in the Latvian third league Riga region tournament – the footballers of the sports club “Upesciems” scored four goals away, but in the last five minutes they were able to play only two – 2: 4. Gatis Zankovskis and Jānis Avots were exactly.

In another game of this tournament, the team of the football school “Rakari” suffered the eighth loss in a row, giving up 1: 5 in the stadium of Ādaži Sports Center to the unit of Riga Technical University. Artjoms Naļivaiko scored the only goal for the home team in the 35th minute, reaching 1: 2 at that time.

In the Riga region tournament table, SK “Upesciems” is in fourth place with 15 points in eight games, but “Rakari” has scored six goals in eight matches, conceded 48 and is in the last ninth position.

In the third stage of the Latvian Cup, 12 second-round winners will compete in six pairs, who will fight for the right to match their forces with one of the ten Super League clubs in the eighth final.

It has already been reported that the footballers of Mārupe, Krimulda and Upesciems teams failed in the first round games.
