Attorney Rizieq Shihab Snapped the Prosecutor: Silent Brother! The all page

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The power of law Rizieq Shihab and the public prosecutor again argued heatedly in the exception reading session, Tuesday (23/3/2021).

One of the powers of law Rizieq, Munarman, had snapped at the prosecutor for not accepting being interrupted.

The debate is still colored around the virtual trial. Attorney Rizieq wants his client to always be present at the East Jakarta District Court, not from the Bareskrim detention center.

Munarman asked the judge to postpone today’s trial and reschedule the next trial to be held regularly offline.

It assessed, the concerns of the panel of judges and the JPU about the spread of Covid-19 if the trial is called face to face or offline uncalled for.

“For Covid, the Ministry of Education and Culture has started face-to-face schools. In Bekasi, Pasuruan, Blitar, schools have opened. Everything has headed back to normal,” said Munarman.

The prosecutor then touched on the question of Rizieq’s supporters who are outside the East Jakarta District Court. He is worried that the supporters gathered will find it difficult to maintain health protocols if Rizieq is present.

“Who guarantees visitors outside adhere to protocol,” said the prosecutor.

However, Munarman confirmed that his party would appeal to Rizieq’s supporters outside the court building to maintain health protocols when Rizieq was presented.

He also emphasized that the problem of supporting Rizieq outside the East Jakarta District Court was handled by police officers, not by the prosecutor.

The debate heated up when Munarman was talking but was interrupted by a member of the prosecutor.

“For a moment, brother. This is my turn! Silence! Be orderly,” said Munarman.

The judge calmed down Munarman so he could restrain his emotions. “Please refrain from all this,” said the judge.

The judge stated that he would accommodate the input submitted by both the defendant and the prosecutor. In the meantime, the judge suspended the trial for prayer and lunch.

“It’s already time for prayer. While we are thinking, we will come back at one o’clock and enter again at 13.00 WIB,” said Chief Judge Suparman Nyompa.
