This Tuesday evening, in the premises of the Bayonne court, the prosecutor of the Republic Marc Mariée indicated that the bus driver assault, Sunday evening in Bayonne, had been “extremely violent”, while the Minister of Transport, Jean-Baptiste Djebbari had moved in the evening to the Chronobus depot, to meet the victim’s colleagues.
Philippe Monguillot, 59-year-old bus driver beaten by one or more passengers and seriously wounded in the head after having refused the climb to a maskless man accompanied by a dog and asked, at the same time, four passengers, who were already on the bus without wearing a mask, to get off.
Two of the attackers known to the police
The prosecution retains the classification of attempted homicide attempt for the two attackers who carried out the blows, of removal of criminal and non-assistance to person in danger for a third, and of non-assistance to person in danger for the fourth.
The two attackers are 23 and 22 years old, and are known to the police. The public prosecutor requested the detention of the four individuals. Judicial information is open.
The drama shook the city of Bayonne and a white march will be organized on Wednesday July 8 at 6.30 p.m., on the initiative of the family of the victim. The procession must start from the Balichon district, at the stop where the attack took place.
