Andrey Rublev is back on the pitch after losing the US Open quarter-finals to Frances Tiafoe.
He was playing his first round at the ATP 500 in Astana. The ninth player in the world has opposed the Serbian Laslo Djere, 76 years oldth in the ranking. This first match was a formality for the Russian who played very well in Kazakhstan, close to his native country. It imposes itself 6⁄4, 6⁄3in just an hour and ten minutes of play.
Coming out of his match Andrey Rublev gave an unpublished interview to our Russian colleagues from Championat.com. It returns in particular to Roger Federer’s retirement and to the image of him.
“Roger looks funny and likeable in all of his interviews. This is the experience you gain when you grant regular interviews. There is a certain image: you already know, if you go in this direction, you have to “behave” like this. This is for every legendary athlete who is the standard of the sport. It seems to me that everyone knows how to do it: to speak well and competently“expressed the Russian.
