Earlier this year, figures released by CarbonBrief showed that the shutdowns associated with COVID-19 in China have resulted in a 25% reduction in carbon emissions. Photos of cities like Los Angeles, Moscow and New Delhi show a smog-free sky on the streets emptied by local decrees on the spot. But in order to make a significant change to the CO2 concentration, these emissions should drop by 20-30% over the course of a year, according to the Scripps team.
