Carrasco suspended against United

Atletico Madrid player Yannick Carrasco was banned for three matches on Friday after suffering a red card when Atletico Madrid beat Porto in the last group match in the Champions League. It reports Spanish Marca.

This means that he loses both 8th semi-finals against United.

Only goalkeeper Jan Oblak and defender Mario Hermoso have played more La Liga football for Atletico than Carrasco this season, and he has started all of the team’s six games so far in 2022.

Rooney declined an Everton interview

Wayne Rooney is one of the managers that Everton were interested in talking to about the vacant manager job.

This after Rooney has impressed with the job he has done in crisis-stricken Derby County this season, where against all odds they still have a chance to survive in the Championship.

Rooney has now confirmed that Everton approached his agent, but that he refused to enter into Everton talks.

New boss for Bernard

Hull City, where United’s Di’Shon Bernard is on loan, have recently been acquired by Turkish side Acun Ilıcalı.

Then it helped little with good results against top teams in recent matches: Manager Grant McCann has disappeared from the club, and he has now been replaced by Georgian Shota Arveladze.

Arveladze currently has a more impressive playing career than a coaching career, but for us the most important thing is that he continues to give Bernard confidence in the defense.

The U21 women to the cup final

Wednesday night was the semifinals in The WSL Academy Cup was played at Moss Lane in Altrincham, and Manchester United were visited by Aston Villa, with United head coach Marc Skinner of course in place.

It ended with United winning and advancing to the final for United, who won 5-0.

Maria Edwards, Alyssa Mae Aherne, Karna Solskjær and substitute Eleanor Ashton (x2) scored the goals for United, according to MUWomenXtra.

Edwards and Solskjær both have more goals than matches for the U21 team this season. Karna’s father, a certain Ole Gunnar Solskjær, has often been present at United’s U21 matches.

In the final, United’s U21 women will face Birmingham City. The final will be played on April 24 (4.30pm Scandinavian time) at Loughborough Stadium.

United team: Safia Middleton – Niamh Murphy, Emma Taylor, Poppy Lawson (C), Jess Simpson – Rebecca May, Polly Watson, Ella Kinzett – Karna Solskjær, Alyssa Mae Aherne, Maria Edwards.

WSL: No help from West Ham

Chelsea won 2-0 at home against West Ham in Wednesday’s WSL hanging match, and Emma Hayes’ team has thus passed Manchester United on tables.

They are now one point ahead of United, with one game to spare (and will also face United at home at Kingsmeadow later in the season), so United’s ambitions now are probably more about ending up ahead of Manchester City.

West Ham are in seventh place, seven points behind United in third place.

Two players on the team of the round

Vilde Bøe Risa and Hayley Ladd make up the midfield on the round’s WSL team.

It should be said that it is former United goalkeeper Siobhan Chamberlain who has taken out the team, but she never played with either Ladd or Bøe Risa (Chamberlain was pregnant the one season she and Ladd had in common at the club), and it is probably sporting reasons why she has chosen the United duo here.

Both scored in the 3-0 victory against Tottenham.

The crown-rule of the Premier League

Several postponements in the Premier League have provoked reactions in England. Today, the clubs agreed on a new rule that will prevent unnecessary postponements for the rest of the season.

In order for a club to apply for a postponement, there must be at least four cases of corona infection in the squad. This therefore excludes other injuries and other absences.

The former Crystal Palace coach thus takes over from Claudio Ranieri and becomes the 19th placed team’s third manager this season. The 74-year-old is also improving his own record as the league’s oldest coach ever.

United get a reunion with both Hodgson and his Watford squad when “the Hornets” visit Old Trafford on 26 February.

Ranieri fired in Watford

He won the Premier League with Leicester, but will not do so with Watford’s Claudio Ranieri.

On Monday, he was fired as Watford manager after 7 points in 13 league games.

Unfortunately for United, his big highlight as Watford manager was the 4-1 victory against United, the match that sealed Ole Gunnar Solskjær’s fate.

Lingard, Rashford and Dalot train in Dubai

It’s winter break in English football. This means that the United players have been given time off until Saturday, and several of the guys are already on tour.

On Monday, Jesse Lingard posted videos of him, Rashford and Dalot training in Dubai.

However, it is also holiday time for the guys.

Confirmed match time for the league cup semi-final

The United women beat Arsenal in an impressive way in the league cup quarter-final, and will face Chelsea in the semi-final – a very tough draw.

The match time has now been confirmed – the settlement at Kingsmeadow will be played at 20.00 (Scandinavian time) on Wednesday 2 February.

The match must be broadcast on FA Player. It will probably be available there in Scandinavia as well, in the same way as the quarter-final against Arsenal.

See schedule her.
