It’s Monday afternoon. Kerri Gray drives through Atlanta with her baby Grayson. Suddenly the two come between two other cars. Their inmates open fire out of the blue! Kerri Gray: “I couldn’t even put my finger on how that happened. I just saw two cars speeding around and that was it.” The mother stops, she wants to check on Grayson. “When I opened the back door he had slumped forward. At first I thought he was asleep.” But the bullet had gone through the trunk and his eye in his back. Little Grayson will never wake up again. Because he’s not sleeping, as Kerri Gray first thought. Kerri Gray is in shock and can’t believe what happened: “He was a six-month-old baby. He didn’t do anything to anyone,” she explains in an interview. “He just started crawling. He was very lively – the personality came out with him from day one.”
In an angry message, she now addressed the perpetrator: “Shame on you for taking one of the best little boys this earth had and destroying him.” And further:
“Not only did you take my son from me – you’ve now terrified the people who live in this area.” The police have now announced that they have arrested a 22-year-old – he is said to be the shooter. But that doesn’t bring Kerri Gray back her son. (jmu)
