Athletics World Cup: Mayer Claims 33rd Place in Marathon

Austrian Runner ⁤Julia Mayer Finishes 33rd ​in World Athletics⁢ Championships Marathon

BUDAPEST, HUNGARY – Austrian athlete Julia ⁣Mayer completed the marathon ‍at the World ⁢Athletics‍ Championships in ⁢33rd ‍place, battling challenging​ conditions to the finish ‌line.

Mayer experienced cramping in the final kilometers of the race. “I was able ⁣to hold my pace for⁤ a​ very long‍ time,⁢ only ⁣on the last few kilometers I got slight cramps from the calf to my thigh in my ⁣career,” she said.she praised the support team, noting,⁢ “The entire team was optimally cared⁤ for with⁤ ice, cap, drinks and ‍gels at the catering sites.”

“It ⁤was a ​mega race,I am absolutely satisfied,”‍ Mayer ‌continued. “It ⁣is ‍indeed just a great feeling​ if⁤ you ‍can overtake so many competitors ‍in the second half. The fact that it went so far up was surprised⁢ and makes me proud ⁤that a dream has come true.”

Other⁢ Austrian ⁣Results:

* ⁢ Raphael Pallitsch advanced to the ​semi-finals of the 1,500 ​meters, finishing sixth in his heat with a time‌ of 3:42.40 ‍minutes.⁤ “I knew ⁣that the slower it ⁤was at ⁤the ⁢begining,the more⁢ my chances ​rise,” Pallitsch explained.”Then the positioning was very⁢ notable…I was able to wait until a hole ⁣and ‌then prevail. ⁣The feeling that I made it into the semi-finals is‌ incredible, from the Entry⁣ list I was only in ‍43,​ now I’m among the top 24th.”
* ‌ Jakob​ Ingebrigtsen, the Olympic champion ⁣and pre-race favorite in the⁢ 1,500 meters,‌ failed to qualify for the semi-finals,⁣ finishing eighth in his ⁢heat with a time of 3:37.84 minutes. He ⁢has been recovering from an Achilles tendon injury.
* ‌ Karin⁢ Strametz narrowly missed qualifying ‍for the semi-finals in ‍the 100-meter hurdles, finishing ⁣fourth in her heat with a time of 13.02 seconds – just three hundredths of a second off ⁢qualification. “I got out of the starting blocks very​ well, but ⁤I‌ was too open when I also lost ​the ⁣time,” strametz said. “There ‍was also a lack of aggressiveness…But if you qualify with a large⁤ ‘Q’ for the semi-finals with 12.99, then I am to⁣ blame.”
