Atalanta Bergamo-trainer Gian Piero Gasperini is pleased that his team was able to secure a good starting position in the run-up to the game with Ajax. The Italians are second in Group D of the Champions League taken over after a 1-1 draw against FC Midtjylland.
“We are not yet qualified, but we are going to Amsterdam with a small advantage,” Gasperini said in conversation with Sky Sport Italy. “At the start of the group stage, we would have been happy with this situation towards the last match. It would be a great success to eliminate Ajax.”
Gasperini saw that his team was struggling against Midtjylland to finish the chances. After ninety minutes of play there was a 1-1 final score on the scoreboard. “In this period we are doing very well in defense and in midfield, but we have trouble in the attack. We are not sharp enough. We create chances, luckily Romero scored a great goal. Maybe I will be in the forefront. put!”
Not much later, the focus returns to Ajax. “It is good that we have a point ahead, that is a small advantage over Ajax”, Gasperini concludes.
