At the chamber music festival “Meeting in Saulkrasti”, the premiere of composer Buravicka’s new work “Rūsa” / Article / LSM.lv

The chamber music festival “Meeting in Saulkrasti” is expected in Saulkrasti from August 7 to 16. A creative workshop where musicians and composers meet for the seventh year in a row to prepare and offer a special chamber music program to listeners for two weeks.

This year, Latvian composer Plato Buravickis will dedicate the world premiere to the festival. The special guests of the festival will be the piano quartet “Quadra” and the chamber orchestra “Kremerata Baltica”.

The music festival in 2014 was founded by violinist Magdalena Geka. For the second year in a row, the artistic director of the festival is violinist Konstantīns Paturskis, a musician of the Kremerata Baltica chamber orchestra.

The opening concert of the festival will take place on August 7 at 8 pm in Saulkrasti Culture House “Zvejniekciems”, where the piano quartet “Quadra” will sing the new “Yamaha” grand piano, playing Oskars Herlins Piano Quartet, as well as Ludwig van Beethoven major WoO 36, No.3.

New work – Plato Buravicka’s “Rust” for violin, cello and electronics will be performed in a concert on August 9 at 6 pm in Saulkrasti Peterupe Evangelical Lutheran Church.

In addition to the premiere, violinist Konstantin Patursky and Emma Bandeniece will perform Georg Friedrich Handel’s “Passacaglia” in the Finnish violinist and composer Johan Halvorsen, as well as Maurice Ravel’s Sonata for violin and cello.

In the second week of the festival, participants will offer listeners three more concert programs.

A chamber music evening will take place on August 14 at 8 pm in St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Saulkrasti, in the program Joaquino Rossini “Sonata” in Sol major, Peter Vasks “Summer Dances” for two violins, as well as Ludwig van Beethoven – String Trio do minor op.9 no.3.

On August 15, at 8 pm, the usual “Sunset Concert” will take place, this time in an unusual place, in the “Koklīši” parking lot, where musicians will join forces to play George Enescu’s string octet and finally – Juris Carlson’s “Evening Prayer”.

The organizers promise that the closing concert of the festival will be special on August 16 at 17.00 in Saulkrasti Culture House “Zvejniekciems”, when the chamber orchestra “Kremerata Baltica” will delight Saulkrasti residents and guests with their play, pianist Rihards Plešanovs. The program includes Peter Vasks’ “The Fruit of Silence” and Philip Glass’s Third Symphony for String Orchestra, as well as Ludwig van Beethoven’s Fourth Piano Concerto, another tribute to the great composer’s round anniversary. Those who, due to restrictions, will not be able to watch this concert in person, will be able to enjoy it in the meadow near “Zvejniekciems” live broadcast on an outdoor screen.
