At the carnival, he extorts money and phone from her

A young adult was tried Tuesday in immediate appearance for extortion by violence, threat or coercion.

A 19-year-old adult, cohabiting and father of a child, was tried on Tuesday by the Montauban court in immediate appearance for extortion.

It was during the carnival of Saint-Nicolas-de-la-Grave, last weekend, that Isaac R., fairground craftsman, will find an acquaintance and ask him to transport him with his vehicle to the town of Castelsagrat , no longer having a driver’s license. He is also awaiting a passage before the court of Auch for driving without a license in recidivism.

This acquaintance will therefore agree to bring him to Castelsagrat accompanied by a friend. It is during the journey that Isaac will become threatening by asking his victim to stop at an ATM to withdraw €50 and give him the sum. The two friends will drop him off and go back to Saint-Nicolas. The facts could have stopped there but 2 hours later, Isaac called the victim back to come and get him.

The two friends will therefore take the road to Castelsagrat and during the return trip, Isaac will again be very threatening, going so far as to kick him in the chest so that he makes several withdrawals from ATMs up to 950 €.

Back home, the man relieved of his money, realizes that he no longer has his phone and decides to file a complaint with the gendarmerie of Valence-d’Agen.

Arrested for extortion, Isaac does not recognize the facts and yet the gendarmes will find the phone in his vehicle as well as CCTV photos of the ATMs where he is recognized with the victim.

He will just admit at the bar to having consumed a lot of alcohol and smoked cannabis, assuring that he wanted to return this phone.

The victim will discover that his phone already had pictures of Isaac’s child in the background as well as applications and social networks of the one who had “borrowed” the device.

The defendant is defended by Me Morgane Morin. The lawyer will be surprised by the comments made by the victim. “Why bring a casual acquaintance 25 minutes by car and come back 2 hours later to pick him up knowing he was threatening from the first trip? Why didn’t the friend who stayed in the vehicle ask for help? help or call the police if you were threatened?”, asks the defense lawyer.

A confused situation which will not prevent Isaac R. from being sentenced to 12 months of firm imprisonment including 6 months of probation for a period of 2 years. The 6 months firm will be arranged according to his itinerancy of fairground with raising of the mandate of deposit.
