At least 15 dead in school bombing in Afghanistan | Abroad

A bomb exploded on Wednesday at a religious school in northern Afghanistan. Local authorities speak of at least fifteen dead and twenty injured.

Afghan Interior Ministry spokesman Abdul Nafi Takor said the explosion occurred at a school in Aybak, the capital of Samangan province. The city is located about 200 kilometers north of the Afghan capital Kabul.

The bomb attack was not immediately claimed. An Aybak doctor told the news agency AFP extension that most of the victims were young. “They’re all children and ordinary people.” He asked the news agency not to name him.

Since taking control of the country last year, the Taliban say they are focused on the safety of Afghan citizens. But in recent months there have been several attacks, some of which have been claimed by the IS terrorist group.
