AstraZeneca vaccines doubled at the Fair

The operation “open doors” to AstraZeneca it works. The numbers of the second day of extraordinary vaccinations without reservations for 60-79 year olds without pathologies seem to confirm that the people of Palermo have more desire for normality than fears. There were 880 doses of Vaxzevria (new name of the anti Covid serum produced by AstraZeneca) inoculated up to 18.30 at the Mediterranean Fair, about double compared to a normal day of administration from 8 to 24.

At the same time, immunizations with Pfizer for citizens over 80 or extremely vulnerable continued: 2,242 inoculated doses up to 18.30 today (Saturday 17 April), for a total of 3,122 administrations in the late afternoon. Numbers that the fair’s vaccination hub generally reaches only at the end of the evening.

“We are putting in place all the resources we have to speed up vaccinations as much as possible – says Renato Costa, extraordinary commissioner for the Coronavirus emergency in the metropolitan city of Palermo -. People respond, they commit themselves, they trust: they come here because they don’t ask other than to leave the pandemic behind. All our efforts are
focus on this “.

The open weekend continues on Sunday 18 April from 8 to 22, the closing time of the gates of the Fair. Until midnight, however, but entering no later than 10 pm, vaccinations will continue for all those who, regardless of the initiative, had already booked.

Although the open weekend is open without reservation to those between 60 (also to be completed by 2021) and 79 years old, on the hub platform https://fiera.asppalermo.org/ A pre-registration system was made available to allow the structure to better organize access. Furthermore, pre-registration is strongly recommended because it allows you to shorten waiting times. In fact, people who pre-register can download the vaccine consent forms and present themselves at the Fair with the completed sheets ready for delivery upon acceptance. Furthermore, by pre-registering, you can indicate an arrival time. Over 1,300 pre-registrations collected, at the moment, for the three-day open weekend at the provincial hub; only for the day of Saturday they were 450.
