The Basque Government, the county councils and municipalities are working on the design of “clear criteria that define the conditions and limitations for the organization and development” of the cultural and festive events planned for this summer, “being aware that many are not going to be able to celebrate “by the coronavirus.

The Lehendakari, Iñigo Urkullu, met this Thursday with the three deputies general, the three mayors of the Basque capitals and Eudel to promote inter-institutional coordination in the phase of de-escalation due to the pandemic and jointly analyze the forecast in relation to parties, events cultural and other sociocultural activities throughout the summer.

As Urkullu has stated at the end of the meeting, a document is already being worked on to share a first vision of all these acts and the objective is to have by next May 10 a “horizon of certainty about the precise conditions that should exist in order to celebrate some “of them,” being aware that many will not be able to celebrate. “

For this, a new meeting of all parties has been called on May 8.

Urkullu has specified that “the priority will always be to guarantee public health and safety” and in this sense, he stressed that “clear criteria defining the conditions and limitations for the organization and development” of these cultural events will be agreed upon. holidays.

Once this document was agreed among public institutions, the Lehendakari has indicated that it will be contrasted with cultural agents. The objective is to clarify the possibilities of holding cultural and festive events this summer.
