The third circuit court ruled Assiut feloniesa 7-year prison sentence for a young man on charges of extorting girls and threatening them through social media applications with defamation and demanding them to have an illegal relationship with them after fabricating pictures of them.

The ruling was issued under the chairmanship of Counselor Sameh Saad Taha, President of the Court, with the membership of Counselor Muhammad Mukhtar Al-Ahmadawi, President of the Court, Counselor Hassan Saeed Daoud, member of the Court, and the secretariat of Khamis Mahmoud.

The facts of the case go back to the fact that the General Department of Information Technology at the Ministry of Interior received several reports from girls that they were blackmailed by a person through the WhatsApp application and the Facebook website, and that he threatened them with superimposing pictures of them on the bodies of naked women, and demanded that they have an illegal relationship.

The technical investigations conducted by the General Department of Information Technology at the Ministry of Interior, using modern programs and technologies, found that the phone numbers that correspond with the girls and the Facebook account belong to the accused, “Ahmed H.M,” a resident of the Abnoub Center in Assiut.

Investigations revealed that the accused blackmailed 12 girls from Assiut, Alexandria, Cairo, and Giza by sending them messages through the WhatsApp application and the Facebook website containing shameful phrases, and this was accompanied by the accused’s request from the victims to establish an illegal relationship with them forcibly and to harass the victims with the intent to obtain for sexual benefit.
