Assassin’s Creed Director Fired After Investigation of Misconduct | NOW

The director responsible for the upcoming game Assassin’s Creed Valhalla has been fired after investigation of sexual misconduct within developer Ubisoft. A spokesperson for the company confirms this to the news agency Bloomberg.

Ashraf Ismail already stepped down from work in June in order to focus on his private life. The CEO was recently accused of hiding his marriage to pick up a fan.

The director has remained with the company in the meantime, but that is no longer the case. Ashraf Ismail has been fired from Ubisoft as a result of our investigation, “a statement read.

Sexual misconduct

The French game studio has been under fire since this summer, after staff spoke out against sexual misconduct in the workplace. Research into the work situation led to the resignation of, among others, Serge Hascoët, who was responsible for all games that the company marketed.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, the game Ismail directed is one of the biggest titles the company plans to release this year. Players take on the role of a Viking who goes to war in England. The fired director also worked on the games Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag in Assassin’s Creed Origins.
