Gerardo José Contreras Álvarez, alias el Gato, accused of the murder of actress Mónica Spear and her husband Thomas Henry Berry, died last Monday, July 13, in El Dorado prison, Bolívar state, from tuberculosis.
The information was confirmed by journalist Deivis Ramírez, who detailed on Twitter that the criminal was serving a sentence of 26 years in prison on the charge of qualified homicide.
He indicated that Contreras Álvarez had previously been transferred from El Rodeo II to the Tocuyito prison in Carabobo for misconduct. Later, they transferred him to the Bolívar state.
He added that he presented a clinical picture of severe lung disease, complicated and died last Monday, July 13.
