Assad Regime Battles Syrian Hospital Artillery, 6 Killed Including Small Children

ATAREB – Regime troop artillery fire Presiden Bashar al-Assad hit a hospital (RS) Syria in Atareb, an area that became the last rebel stronghold in Idlib. Six civilians, including a child, were killed.

The attack in the city of Atareb came on Sunday despite a Russian-Turkish ceasefire since March 2020 meant to protect a rebel stronghold controlled by “jihadist” groups.

“It hit the courtyard and main entrance of the hospital, killing six civilians including a child and a hospital employee,” the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said. AFP, Monday (22/3/2021).

In addition to killing six civilians, the Syrian regime’s artillery strikes also left 11 others injured, including medical staff.

Local state news agency, YOU, reported on Sunday government troops fired artillery fire that killed two people in the government-controlled city of Aleppo. The attack took place outside the rebel stronghold.

According to the United Nations, the Idlib region is home to 2.9 million people, two-thirds of whom have fled their homes because of the conflict.

The territory on the border with Turkey is controlled by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), which is led by members of Syria’s former al-Qaeda affiliate, but several rebel groups are also present there.
